The Kings Blog

July 13, 2010

J has been asking me why he can’t have a blog so he can also show everyone the photos that he takes.  Sally set up a blog for her kids and he rather likes it, so I thought I would do something similar.

So allow me introduce to you The Kings Blog.  His bio was written almost entirely by him.  I corrected grammar here and there and made it slightly less verbose, but essentially  it is what he said and I typed.

Of course we had to do a photo session so that he could take photos for his blog, and I could not resist taking some photos of him in action.

Determined to get his shotClimbing into the bushes, determined to get his shot.  According to him he sees me doing this all the time ;)

A New Theme

June 14, 2010

When I first started blogging it was all so new and overwhelming to me that I rather hastily put something together.  But now I have reached a point where I have started to particularly like the look of some blogs and more importantly, particularly dislike mine.  So here is the new theme that is still a work in progress, but I don’t think it will change much from this basic layout.

I was experimenting with textures again today and am rather pleased with the way this one turned out.  I hope you like it too.

Blog Etiquette

January 14, 2010

I am still very new to the blogging scene, but hopefully learning fast enough in order to keep up and be able to make a “proper” contribution.  A lot of it has been very confusing but I’ve been loathe to ask questions for fear of looking like a complete fool.  I have now reached a point though where I do need to ask questions and I’m hoping that you will be able to help me :-)

  1. How do you decide who to include on your blogroll?
  2. If someone adds you to their blogroll are you obliged to include them on yours?
  3. Should you comment EVERY time you read someone’s blog or is it ok to lurk just sometimes?
  4. I often read about “stats” and where you are found on Google searches etc – how important is this?  How do I up my “rating” if it is important?

I hope I get some answers from my intelligent blogging friends so that I can also start to understand and enjoy this whole experience the way it should be done.

Blog/Twitter Girls Meet

December 20, 2009

Wenchy organised a Blog/Twitter Girls meetup at River Café in Sandton this morning.  It was a really lovely morning.  The kids could play in the ample play area and the moms & dads/partners could chat and catch up.  I finally got to meet @JessicaMcD, Robin, Tanya and Mandi.  It was also lovely to catch up with Elaine, Laura, Sally, Jeanette, MeeA and Gina.  What a lovely group of people.  I’m really so pleased I have met all of you and love my new friends.  Thanks so much Wenchy for arranging this, we had a lovely time.

My New Blog

November 26, 2009

After much debate and discussion with friends, I have finally decided to start my own blog.  I will attempt to share with you, events that make up the hectic circus that is my life.  I shall also share a rant or 2 (probably more) and possibly even make you laugh on occasion.  I am new to this whole blogging world so please feel free to offer advice, words of wisdom and guidance.  If you wish to voice your displeasure at something I have said, please be nice.  If you are nasty to me, I probably won’t like you very much anymore.

With all that said I guess it is now time to say a few “Thank you’s”.  Thank you Ian for always humouring me when I ask the complicated questions and your endless patience in teaching me to be self sufficient with things “IT”.  As a self confessed “control freak” I can attest that holding the “reigns” to my website & blog satisfies my addiction and has effected a thoroughly frustrating yet strangely satisfying learning curve.   Thank you Andre for helping me to make sense of the blogging and search engine stuff, and helping me to get it up and running.  Your abundant knowledge of all things IT and photographic never cease to amaze me, and I’m eternally grateful that you share your “power” so freely.  The ability that you both have to “dumb” everything down so that I can understand it, is a testament to your superior intelligence.  I am humbled in the company of such “awesomeness”.

Some Flowers for you from my Garden

I am unsure of how often I should post, but I know that if I am too long in adding posts, one of you will surely rattle my cage and tell me to get a move on.  But for now, getting this far is a major achievement.  Especially in light of the fact that I currently have the most horrific sinus infection and this entire post and set up has been done with the assistance of Schedule 3 drugs (red & green are my favourite colours today)
