Wedding Workshop

June 7, 2010

On Friday 4th June 2010 I attended a wedding workshop with Deon and Natasha du Preez at Olive Mystery Wedding Venue  in Pretoria.  It was great fun, I learnt a lot and met some great photographers there too.  Our models were wonderful and such great sports thanks so much to Elrana, Angelique, JD & Heleen and a huge thanks to dress designers Papillo and Immagika for the beautiful dresses that the models wore.

Here are some of the photographs that I took at the workshop.  There are a few more in the wedding album on my Facebook page.

Kat Forsyth asked me to be second shooter at a wedding she did for Vivian and Gary on Saturday.  Needless to say I was super excited at the opportunity of working with someone who has way more experience than me and is rather well known.  She has very graciously allowed me to post some of the photographs that I took on the day.  You can see her amazing shots on her website.

Vivian and Gary are such an amazing couple and their day was beautiful down to the last detail.

The pink and green colour scheme was so refreshing and lovely, I just had to get photos of every detail.

Gary’s brother was under strict instructions to ensure that he looked absolutely perfect.

The bride floated down the river towards the chapel as the guests looked on in awe

On-River

The bride & groom had tears in their eyes due to all the dust in the chapel. (Well that’s their story :-) )

They both loved this tree and so we had to make sure it was in one of their photographs

The reception and food was wonderful.  The DJ/Owner clearly is crazy about his music.  What a treat to see someone so passionate about what he does

And just for fun – here is a shot of the most lovely Kat Forsyth in action :-)

Thank you Kat for asking me to assist – I really had fun.

While I was going through the rest of the photographs I was remembering my crazy cousin and the nutty person she is.  She is such a delight and really made everyone laugh constantly.  She is not the least bit shy, totally outgoing and ready to get up to antics just for a laugh.  Here is some of the fun we had.

Everyone expects the bride to be all ladylike - B decided to break the ice and just have fun

While I was taking photos of B getting her hair done, the little flower girl was admiring herself in the mirror.  She wasn’t too sure of me and my camera so I had to get these shots sneakily. What a gorgeous little lass she was.

The minister decided that is was a good idea for the groom to be on bended knee while his bride gave him the honour of placing the wedding ring on her finger

The Ceremony took place in the Tokai Forest – what an incredibly beautiful setting

The Guests had a wonderful time in this peaceful setting …

… but it was the “uninvited guests” that caused a real stir

It was these rather noisy uninvited guests that put an end to our creative session in the tranquil forest

A Cape Town Wedding

May 17, 2010

At the end of January I went to Cape Town to photograph my cousins wedding.  For personal reasons she was not ready to have the photographs published on the web.  However I have now heard from her and she has given me the ok to publish the photographs.

It was a gorgeous summers day, with a howling gale as Cape Town is known to do.  This really limited the number of outside shots we could get, but I think we still managed to get a few nice shots.
